We were so impressed with all of the looks generated in our Neon Summer Brights contest… but the nature of a contest is that somebody has to be on top, and these are the big winners!

It was almost a given that paula of  born-to-be-brave woud win our contest after being named a “top set” by polyvore editors, but it really is all down to the styling. From the celestial skirt to the neon-retro sunnies, the whole look is fierce and clearly the winner! born-to-be-brave won her choice of of our neon bracelet in mixed metals – and she chose pink! We’ll be winging her prize off to Rome, not that we’re jealous she lives there or anything… 😉

Our Earth Day Eco Chic Polyvore Contest Winners!

Our Earth Day contest has come to a close! We were lucky to have so many amazing sets to choose from, but in the end, only 3 can take home the eco jewelry medals! Green Your Music Festival this Season

Combine our most recent Earth Day Polyvore contest and Polyvore’s Coachella Style contest (our favorite looks soon to come!) and we were reminded of an important environmental opportunity, now that Festival Season is here.

This Green Music Festival article from Milkshake brought our attention to a greater organization, A Greener Festival. AGF is a not-for-profit company committed to helping music and arts events and festivals around the world adopt environmentally efficient practices, and they’ve probably been around at the concerts and festivals you frequent, quietly helping event coordinators green your music environment.

Every year, they offer the AGF Award for the greenest event, both big and small, so do your best to be in-the-know of all the recycling and environmental efficiency programs happening at the events you attend in order to help out!

Here are some other ways you can green your music festival experience:
1. Skip the plastic bottle stands and bring a reusable water bottle. Events are getting very good at offering watering stations for you to refill.
2. Bring a backpack to avoid all the plastic bags from buying merchandise.
3. Utilize events shuttle systems and public transportation (and skip the parking lot gridlock when the show’s over)
4. Finger food: Opt for foods that require fewer utensils, plates, and napkins
5. Pick up when you can. Not everyone is going to behave like a green hero, so dispose of wandering bottles and cans as you walk by recycling bins

Good Eats: Outerlands SF

They are the same kind of quintessential San Francisco restaurant: local and sustainable ingredients, oh-so-hip waiter, and a thee hour wait. But there are so many things that set this Ocean Beach-bound restaurant apart, aside from being off the beaten path…

Wood-paneled walls and hand-carved seating accompany one of the best brunches that San Francisco has to offer (see below). What we’ve enjoyed, and will enjoy time and time again, is the honesty of their recipes. If the menu states that you’ll be eating potato gnocchi with butternut squash, parmesan, and greens, that is exactly what you will taste.

Should you make it past the crowds, be sure to go home with one of their freshly-baked loaves of bread in order to bring the sense of warmth with you.

It’s such a lovely place…really. With founders originating from Mexico (where their other ten hotels lie), the Hotel Americano prides itself on its lack of trendiness and unique features in small spaces such as personal kitchens and a rooftop pool.

We love that this swank spot, with numerous room options from studio to downtown king, utilized recycled materials for its build-out and still boasts a little hint of south american tradition.

All Things Considered – Logical Art’s ‘Empty Memory’

In a perfect world, all things, be them everyday or occasional, would be created with design as a top priority. From parking meters, to egg cartons, to treadmills, both form and function would reign supreme in our happy little design junkie world.

This is a tall order. We know.

But according to Logical Art, not all is lost! A functional and technological USB memory stick at the very least, deserves to live in our modern fairytale. The “Empty Memory” collection features both “structure” and “transparent” styles cast from stainless steel with a brushed hand-finish.
