Designer Spotlight: The Advocacy Impact of Apolis

It took little time for us to start noticing a familiar little tote being sold by our favorite shops. Unionmade was one, FrenchTrotters another…we just had to find the origin of the Market Bag that we were seeing everywhere, and sure enough, Apolis was the answer!

Teaming up with many tré chic vendors to create customized branding made this bag, manufactured by an ethical female-employed shop in Bangladesh, so popular. But what we really wanted to make note of was Apolis’ Advocacy Impact Projects as a whole, which gave the green light to the design and production of a selection of fashion accessories made specifically to support an industry in need in locations such as Uganda, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Needless to say, we hope this kind of global activism serves as a role model for all kinds of industries.

The All-Natural and Chemical-Free Way to Remove Silver Tarnish

Some of our lovely customers have been asking us about keeping your sterling silver Kyler jewelry shiny and new, so we’ve put together a little tutorial on cleaning tarnished silver at home the non-toxic and eco-friendly way!

*Please note that this is for cleaning pure sterling silver jewelry ONLY – do not use these cleaning methods on gold, steel, or any plated jewelry items, as well as jewelry with stones or intentional oxidization

Wildcrafted and Wonderful: Juniper Ridge

I went to the green festival today (check out facebook for my favorite picks!) and I had the complete pleasure of meeting Obi and Alli from Juniper Ridge.

If you don’t know this company, or their amazing wildcrafted goods, you should. If you appreciate the outdoors, you will swoon at the incredible scents.

The most impressive aspect of their products is that they literally gather their own all the plant materials, distill their own oils, make hydrosols and – all to create teas, soaps, solid perfumes, room and body sprays, and more – from trips all across the American west.  You can see and learn more about the process and inspirations on their blog.

When I go on a hike, my favorite part of the experience is the scent of the surroundings – trees, dirt, mosses, shrubs, grasses, ponds – everything wild and free. If you have ever been in a California redwood forest, you will recognize the scent instantly in their new room and body spray, Steep Ravine. A Pacific Northwest mountain meadow is captured in a bottle in Cascade Glacier. These are truly amazing, healing and transformative scents. Simply close your eyes and inhale to be transported to pristine wild spaces.

Juniper Ridge also walks the walk – donating 10% of profits to defending our western wilderness, and encouraging us to all get out there and experience our wild spaces that are all of ours to enjoy, appreciate, and love.
